Here at Bird Island Bungalows we offer a variety of activities for you to enjoy:
We have our own private cove that is small and enclosed. Additionally, we are flanked on both sides by beaches with varying conditions (some good for snorkeling and swimming, others with waves for surfing). All beaches in Panama are public, so you are free to roam along the coast as far as you like.
Our filtered rainwater pool is always open and waiting for you to cool off, enjoy a beer or cocktail, and take in the gorgeous ocean views. Go for a swim in the deep end or relax in the shallow side with stools and benches.
We offer yoga classes led by our certified instructors. Class offerings and times are varied and include vinyasa-style flows, restorative yin, and guided meditation.
Your room booking includes free use of our snorkeling gear. If the ocean is calm enough it is perfect to snorkel right in front of the hotel and discover the reef, watch stingray and many other underwater miracles.
KAYAK & SUP
Your room booking includes free use of our sea kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. It is possible to take the kayaks and paddle boards out on most days, but in case of rougher waters or bad weather please check with staff prior to use.
About a 20 minute walk from Bird Island is a lovely freshwater lagoon beside a pristine beach. This is one of our favorite destinations to cool off and spend an afternoon.
We are surrounded by lush jungle and abundant wildlife. Feel free to roam the gardens on your own and enjoy the frogs, butterflies, and birds. Make sure to look up in the trees for howler monkeys and sloths!
One of the most famous and breathtaking beaches in all of Bocas del Toro is nearby. Our free shuttle takes guests to the village of Drago three times a day, and from Drago it is a 20 minute walk to the tranquil waters of Starfish Beach, where you can order beer or seafood from a beachside tienda, and wade into the waters littered with the namesake red starfish.
We can help organize day excursions with boat captains in Drago to take guests to the outer islands of Bocas del Toro -- Los Zapatillas, Bastimentos, Carenaro, and other places renowned for diving, surfing, snorkeling, and wildlife viewing.
